T.G.I.F.! Whew…finally!

Do you know what a GFCI is, where to find it, and how to re-set it?

Imagine having an electrical outlet stop working on a weekend. You know – the one that you plug your hair dryer into before you go out for a night on the town. Eeek! What do you do? Well, there is one thing that you can do. Look and see if the outlet has a button in the middle that reads “RESET”. If it does – PUSH IT IN! Sometimes this is all it takes to get an outlet back in working order. Why? Because some outlets have a “GFCI” – a ground fault circuit interrupter. This is a safety “device that shuts off an electric power circuit when it detects that current is flowing along an unintended path, such as through water or a person”. It is there to protect you from an electrical shock. If the outlet “resets” you won’t have to wait for a contractor to come and work on the outlet. How great would that be? No appointment necessary!

Have you been paying attention to the weather forecast?

Yes, we know, we are all tired of checking the weather and worrying about the low temperatures. Nevertheless, here we go again! Lows are predicted to be below freezing (32 degrees) beginning tonight and on through the next week or so. If they dip into the teens we will be doing “the twist” – twisting our faucets on to drip so the pipes don’t freeze.

Attention all tenants! We need your email address.

Sometimes we send out important information by email or have documents to send you by email that just won’t wait for good old snail mail delivery. If you have not provided us with an email address – or don’t remember if you have or not – please contact us. This would greatly help to expedite the dissemination of information. And, of course, it is ALL good information!
Also, if you have changed cell phones lately or just changed your number it is very important that you let us know. If you are waiting for a plumber to call and make an appointment to stop that gusher you have spouting from the pipe under the kitchen sink you don’t want to take a chance on having him repeatedly call an old number. Meanwhile, you could be watching the family dog do the backstroke or ride a wave out the back door!
